The problem: a BMW M140i — the hot 1 Series — with only one smart key. On a BMW, losing the last key means the car can't be opened or started, and the dealer route is a recovery truck and a new key ordered through the dealer. A spare made while the original still works is far cheaper and quicker.
What we did: we came to the car on the driveway in Chelmsford, read the car's key data and programmed a new BMW smart key to it on the spot. Both keys were tested before we left — lock and unlock, boot release, keyless comfort access on the door handles and push-button start. The owner now has two working keys and keeps one at home as the backup. No dealer visit, no waiting for a key to be ordered.
