The problem: a Ford Ka with one remote key, and that key was showing its age — worn blade, buttons going soft. One key is one bad day away from an all-keys-lost call-out, which costs more and takes longer than a spare.
What we did: we came to the car on the driveway in Edgware, cut a new blade to the car's locks and programmed a new 3-button remote key to the Ka's immobiliser on the spot. Both keys were tested — doors, boot, remote buttons and start — before we left. The owner kept the original as the backup. One visit, no trip to the dealer.
