The problem: a Mercedes CLA 200 with keyless entry — exactly the kind of car taken by relay attack, where thieves copy the key's signal from outside the house and drive off without ever touching the key. The owner wanted the car to stay on the driveway even if the key signal is cloned.
What we did: the owner messaged us on WhatsApp with the car and postcode, we confirmed the price and a time, and fitted an Autowatch Ghost 2 (Ghost-II) immobiliser at the house — the CLA 200 runs on a standard CAN network, so the Ghost 2 was the right unit. The unit is hidden in the car's wiring with no visible cables, no LED and no extra key fob. The owner chose a PIN sequence on the car's own buttons — steering wheel and centre console — and without that sequence the engine will not start, even with the real key in the car. We set up service mode for garage visits, tested the sequence several times with the owner and handed over the Ghost-II owner's manual and paperwork. About an hour on the driveway.
Cost: Ghost 2 from £449 fitted — that covers the Autowatch unit, the mobile installation and the PIN setup, with a 5-year warranty on the unit and no subscription. The price depends on the car: some newer Mercedes, BMW and Audi models need the Ghost 3, so tell us the model and year and we confirm the price before we set off.
Keyless Mercedes, BMW, Audi or Range Rover?
These are the cars we see targeted most around Surrey, Kent and south London. A Ghost does not replace your alarm or tracker — it simply means the car cannot be driven without your sequence. Read our Ghost immobiliser cost guide or the Ghost immobiliser service page.
